  10. You must contact WordPerfect Customer Support for technical assistance 
  11. with ScreenExtender SE. Please see page 3 in the Update Guide for

  15. HARD DISK REQUIREMENTS
  16. ----------------------
  17. ScreenExtender SE requires approximately 2.2MB of hard disk space
  18. during installation. Once installed, ScreenExtender SE occupies
  19. approximately 1.9MB of hard disk space.

  22. COMPLETE SCREENEXTENDER SE USER MANUAL

  24. The installation program places a comprehensive guide to the features
  25. and operation of ScreenExtender SE in the file "SXMANUAL" in the
  26. ScreenExtender SE directory. This file is a WordPerfect 5.1+ document
  27. and can be printed from WordPerfect 5.1+. This file occupies 407KB
  28. of hard disk space and may be deleted later if you wish to free up 
  29. hard disk space.

  32. COMPATIBILITY WITH WORDPERFECT "INTERIM RELEASES"
  33. -------------------------------------------------
  34. Before installing ScreenExtender SE for WordPerfect 5.1+, you must
  35. first verify that your "interim release" of WordPerfect 5.1+
  36. is supported.

  38. To determine the date of a WordPerfect 5.1+ interim 
  39. release, simply start up WordPerfect as you normally would and 
  40. press F3 [Help]. The text "WP 5.1+" followed by a date will be 
  41. displayed at the top right of the screen.

  43. If your date is not shown in the appropriate list below, you
  44. cannot use this version of ScreenExtender SE.  Please note that the 
  45. format of the dates listed here may be different than the format 
  46. used by WordPerfect if you are using an international (i.e. not U.S.A.) 
  47. version of WordPerfect. The date formats used here are shown at the 
  48. top of each list.

  68. If the date of your copy of WordPerfect 5.1+ is not one of the
  69. above, you can not use this version of ScreenExtender SE.

  72. REMOVING EXPANDED MEMORY (EMS) TO GAIN 64K OF UPPER MEMORY
  73. ----------------------------------------------------------
  74. Expanded memory requires a 64K memory region located in the first
  75. 1MB of memory to operate. This memory region is called the "page
  76. frame" and is almost always located in the upper memory region
  77. between 640K and 1MB.

  79. If you use don't have enough upper memory to load ScreenExtender SE
  80. high you should consider reconfiguring your memory manager to 
  81. provide extended memory (XMS) only. This will remove the need for 
  82. the EMS 64K page frame thus adding 64K of upper memory for use by 
  83. programs like ScreenExtender SE.

  85. NOTE: If you use any programs which 1) use expanded memory (EMS)
  86.       and 2) can not use extended memory (XMS), then you should
  87.       not change your memory manager configuration.
  88.  
  89. The following instructions explain how to reconfigure the three
  90. most common memory managers to provide extended memory only, thus
  91. freeing the 64K of memory used as an EMS page frame.
  92.  
  93.    Microsoft's EMM386:
  94.       Add the term "NOEMS" to the device=EMM386.SYS line in your
  95.       CONFIG.SYS file.
  96.  
  97.    Quarterdeck's QEMM:
  98.       Add the term "NOEMS" to the device=QEMM386.SYS line in your
  99.       CONFIG.SYS file.
  100.  
  101.    Qualitas' 386MAX:
  102.       Add the term "EMS=0" to the device=386MAX.SYS line in your
  103.       CONFIG.SYS file or to your 386MAX.PRO profile.

  105. If you disable expanded memory, you should also use ScreenExtender's
  106. /nems command-line option. Please see the ScreenExtender SE user
  107. manual for instructions on how to use command-line options.
