COMPATIBILITY WITH WORDPERFECT "INTERIM RELEASES"
-------------------------------------------------
Before installing ScreenExtender SE for WordPerfect 5.1+, you must
first verify that your "interim release" of WordPerfect 5.1+
is supported.
To determine the date of a WordPerfect 5.1+ interim
release, simply start up WordPerfect as you normally would and
press F3 [Help]. The text "WP 5.1+" followed by a date will be
displayed at the top right of the screen.
If your date is not shown in the appropriate list below, you
cannot use this version of ScreenExtender SE. Please note that the
format of the dates listed here may be different than the format
used by WordPerfect if you are using an international (i.e. not U.S.A.)
version of WordPerfect. The date formats used here are shown at the
top of each list.
Your WordPerfect 5.1+ date must be one of the following:
WordPerfect 5.1+:
-----------------
MM/DD/YY
--------
03/21/94 (U.S.A.)
06/28/94 (Australian)
07/06/94 (Swedish)

08/09/94 (French)
08/31/94 (Spanish)
If the date of your copy of WordPerfect 5.1+ is not one of the
above, you can not use this version of ScreenExtender SE.
REMOVING EXPANDED MEMORY (EMS) TO GAIN 64K OF UPPER MEMORY
----------------------------------------------------------
Expanded memory requires a 64K memory region located in the first
1MB of memory to operate. This memory region is called the "page
frame" and is almost always located in the upper memory region
between 640K and 1MB.
If you use don't have enough upper memory to load ScreenExtender SE
high you should consider reconfiguring your memory manager to
provide extended memory (XMS) only. This will remove the need for
the EMS 64K page frame thus adding 64K of upper memory for use by
programs like ScreenExtender SE.
NOTE: If you use any programs which 1) use expanded memory (EMS)
and 2) can not use extended memory (XMS), then you should
not change your memory manager configuration.
The following instructions explain how to reconfigure the three
most common memory managers to provide extended memory only, thus
freeing the 64K of memory used as an EMS page frame.
Microsoft's EMM386:
Add the term "NOEMS" to the device=EMM386.SYS line in your
CONFIG.SYS file.
Quarterdeck's QEMM:
Add the term "NOEMS" to the device=QEMM386.SYS line in your
CONFIG.SYS file.
Qualitas' 386MAX:
Add the term "EMS=0" to the device=386MAX.SYS line in your
CONFIG.SYS file or to your 386MAX.PRO profile.
If you disable expanded memory, you should also use ScreenExtender's
/nems command-line option. Please see the ScreenExtender SE user
manual for instructions on how to use command-line options.
